Aminah played festivals around Australia before heading to Ireland, from where she spent 7 years performing in Ireland, the UK and Australia with celebrated trad and blues musician, Seamie O’Dowd, and touring with Californian songwriter Thom Moore (Mary Black). She has shared stages with Australia's Tommy Emmanuel, Ireland’s Máirtín O’Connor Band and Canada’s The Wailin Jennys, appeared on Irish TV, RTÉ Radio 1 and BBC Radio Ulster, and sung with the Sligo Baroque Orchestra and the Sligo Sinfonietta Orchestra.
Having appeared on 10 albums in Australia and Europe, Aminah recorded her debut album in Ireland, USA, Australia and Germany, featuring special guests Tommy Emmanuel, Waterboys fiddler Steve Wickham and Nashville’s powerhouse gospel singers, The McCrary Sisters.
In this intimate evening performance, Aminah will perform songs she wrote during her time in Ireland and share some of her favourite songs from the Emerald Isle. She will be joined by award winning poet and storyteller Jaya Penelope. Jaya is a descendant of Fenian, James Kearney, transported to Fremantle in 1867 on board the Hougoumont. Her storytelling has been featured at festivals throughout WA. Her tales of exile and belonging will transport you to a magical and mythical Ireland.
This will be a special night to remember.
